Being an Insurance Agent – Having What it Takes

by Mac

Welcome back to my Insurance Leads Blog, In this section we will be looking at the answers to many of the questions that you probably have if you are looking to become new  insurance agent.  Being an  insurance agent is a very good but challenging career.

A large percentage of new health agents are recruited from other lines of work by the larger captive agencies. Many times new health agents get into this line of work after being given unrealistic expectations of instant success and become quickly disappointed with their initial results.  It is very rare for a new health agent to become successful overnight, but most who work hard at it and overcome the initial learning curve become very successful.  One of the purposes of this blog is to help you overcome that initial leaning curve much more quickly.  I also will provide you with good information to help you avoid costly mistakes that cause most new health insurance agents to become frustrated and give up.

The reality of your situation as a new insurance agent is this: You will have to become comfortable with calling all sorts of people you don’t know, then selling an intangible product to them.  You will be helping people by giving them a level of financial protection from huge medical bills.  You will be facing fierce competition from other agents.  You wil be facing the challenge of dealing with people who are geared towards the large group health plans, that had head to toe coverage, that they probably grew up with, but are now becoming less and less common.

The biggest obstacle that you might have to overcome is yourself…

Thanks for stopping by my insurance leads blog.

Cheers,

Mac
