When I have been doing posts for this insurance sales leads website, I have been notoriously bad about getting stuck in a rut when it comes to explaining a topic that I feel other agents will find useful. My reason behind this is that so many times I have been told and have heard others told “you have 95% of what it takes, it is the other 5% that you don’t have yet that is hurting you, and if you figure that 5% out then you will be good to go…” I jut dont want to leave that 5% out so that someone will fall on their face after reading.
So, unfortunately, I’m going to get stuck in a rut again for awhile because I am going to show you how to set up a wordpress blog of your own, on the cheap, that will pretty much run itself, to generate a few extra leads for you every month. The crazy thing is that when you learn how to do this, you can do it again on your own over and over, and there is nothing to lose with this, because even if you move on to different things other than insurance sales, these sites can be easily monetized using adsense or other affiliate programs and can also be “flipped” for a profit.
Another thing I want to mention is that these blogs are not meant to take the big carriers out there head on. If you look at anything on agent websites on the insurance agents forum, look at what the experts like Dave Miller, Alston, and Nick Perry have to say about “low hanging fruit.” These guys know their stuff when it comes to taking on the big guys out there, and the work it takes doing SEO to compete with them will take up valuable time that you don’t have.
Also, as far as SEO goes, I’m going to keep things really simple and limit it to mainly on page aspects, and my suggestion is that if you want to ramp up your SEO, spend the money and hire on of the three aforementioned people to do it for you.
My focus is going to be on how to build a blog that will basically run itself and capture some leads for you along the way without you having to mess with it much at all.
Best yet, I am going to be doing videos and putting links in the posts on where you go to get what you need.
Here is how I am thinking of laying it out:
1. Getting Webhosting
2. Choosing and buying a domain
3. Installing WordPress
4. Installing a Theme
5. Installing Basic Plugins
6. Setting up a sticky page (your home sales page)
7. Setting up your auto blogging plugin
8. Setting up your auto responder
9. Checking Stats and for New Leads
Anyways, as I get the vids done I will post them here.
Thanks for stopping by my insurance sales leads blog.
Cheers,
Mac
